Athletic Trainer Salary

There are a variety of different factors that go into determining what an athletic trainer salary will be. The first largest contributing factor will be what team you are working for.

If you are working for a large sports team, such as one in the NFL or NHL, then you are going to be making a considerably higher athletic trainer salary than if you are working with a small community college team for example.

Another determining factor with regards to an athletic trainer salary is the education that you posses. If you are a graduate of a Masters or Ph.D program then you will be making quite a bit more money since you are going to have a much higher knowledge base than someone who just has a simple certification. Often people who have these advanced degrees are also eligible to take advanced certifications to add to their designations thus further enhancing their money-making opportunities.

You also need to take into account the type of team you are working for. Sports in which the athletes are paid higher, such as baseball or basketball are also likely to earn a greater level of payment since there are more funds being generated through ticket sales, endorsements, etc.

Finally the number of years of experience you have coaching or in the fitness field in general will help to determine how much money you make. Those who have been in the profession for a number of years are able to command higher incomes.

One nice thing about working in this profession compared to just working in a gym is that there is not much doubt that the clients you work with are going to be giving their full effort during their workout sessions. When you are working with recreational exercisers sometimes the biggest challenge is just making sure they show up whereas in this division of the industry that will not b a concern.
