Gym Workout

Supervised exercise in a modern gym workout environment is highly beneficial, as specialist fitness machines and trained instructors will be available.

Personal trainers provide dietary advice, and will suggest the best gym workout for your particular fitness level, but before embarking upon any exercise program, always consult your doctor.

You can combine fun and relaxation with exercise; after your gym workout, enjoy a steam room session or take advantage of the social events on offer - a great way to make new friends.

Aim to do a minimum of thirty minutes of exercise a day so that your heart rate increases. The variety of classes available at fitness centres ranging from aerobics and step, toning, yoga and pilates, kick boxing and weights to high- energy spinning, means that exercise need never be boring. Also, seeing others break out in a sweat, can be incredibly motivating if you are flagging.

The sheer range of resources such as swimming pools and cardio-machines, means that you need never be bored. Shower facilities and pampering opportunities add to the luxurious nature of the experience.

You can increase your endurance and burn more calories by changing your speed, resistance and incline on the treadmill. Try alternating hard sprinting or speed-walking with slow jogging or walking, and try using three or more cardio-machines for ten minutes at a time.

Ask the instructors for their professional opinion when experimenting with different weights to avoid strain injuries.

Many fitness centres offer free trials and special membership offers helping to make their services more affordable. You can choose between peak and off-peak time usage (off-peak time being cheaper).
