ACE

The American Council On Exercise, otherwise known as ACE, is a very high quality certification for anyone who is looking to become a personal trainer.

There are four different types of certifications you can take through the ACE organization. They are a certified personal trainer, a certified group instructor, a lifestyle and weight management consultant and a clinical exercise specialist.

All four certifications through ACE requires that you be at least 18 years of age, have a CPR course completed, and have a minimum of 100 practical hours completed in the field. After you have met these requirements you are free too choose whichever certification is best suited to you and can take more than one if desired.

The cost of the personal trainer exam will be $200 initially and then another $150 for any other certifications you wish to add to this. Upon enrolling in the course you will receive a handbook to go through that will help you understand all the material before you write the exam. The course consists of exercise science, exercise programming, instructional technique and professional responsibility.

The group fitness instructor course costs the same as the personal trainer course does and will also include a study manual for you to learn from. This course teaches you the basics of teaching an exercise class and how you can implement one in a gym setting.

The purpose of the lifestyle and weight management consultant is to show the relationship to the client between diet, exercise and health. This certification enables you to help a client achieve weight loss and then teach them how they can maintain it for years to come.

Finally, the clinical exercise specialist is a little more scientific in nature and really focuses in on teaching you how to deal with clients who have special needs and are suffering from chronic illness or another medical condition. For this certification however you must also have a 4-year degree in Exercise Science or a related field, or an ACE personal trainer certification and then at least 300 hours of practical experience designing and implementing programs.

Without a doubt this exercise regulating body is very high on the standards scale and will guarantee to take your career to the next level in the fitness industry.
