There are various types of yoga equipment that you can buy and what you purchase is going to depend on what type of class you take and your own personal preferences. The first piece of yoga equipment that you will most likely need regardless of the class is a good mat. This will provide conditioning for you while you perform the various movements.

Next you might want to consider purchasing a ball as there are a variety of different exercises you can do on this. These are really great because they reduce your base of support when you position yourself on them thus helping to really work your core muscles and give you a complete workout.

You will also need to make sure you have some comfortable clothing to wear during this class. Most people will choose items that are made of out lycra so they fit snugly but still allow for a maximum range of movement. This is very important as the last thing you want is to feel restricted.

Lastly, you may wish to purchase a block to use during the class. Incorporating this into your workout will give you more variety and help make the class more stimulating and challenging. It will likely be requested for most advanced level classes so purchasing one early will save you worrying about it later.

Never start exercising when you are not prepared as not only do you risk not enjoying yourself, you also risk becoming injured in certain situations. Having the right tools will make you feel more comfortable in the class and ready to participate.
