Yoga Video

Purchasing a few yoga videos is a great way to get started with this form of exercise. The great thing about a yoga video is that it allows you to perform the workout in the comfort of your own home, which for some beginner exercisers is very important.

If you feel a little uncomfortable in a group atmosphere since you are just starting to workout then a yoga video will solve this problem. Additionally, since it is on tape you can stop and rewind it any time you are unsure of a movement or want to try again. This makes it very conducive to learning.

There are a variety for you to choose from that cover all the different types of this activity as well. You can find ones for power, ashtanga, abdominal focus, especially for 50+ as well as for longevity. All of them are relatively inexpensive as well, usually ranging from around $9.99 to $19.99.

If you are new to this type of exercise though it is very critical that you do choose a beginner series because if you don't start by building a good foundation with the core movements you will likely not use the right technique with the advanced positions and therefore will not gain near the amount of benefits as you would had you been using the right technique. This is definitely one type of exercise that you do not want to short-change yourself on!

After using a beginner series for a month or two then you should be easily able to progress to an advanced one where you will further increase your fitness and skill level. Also, if you feel you are not quite ready to move to advanced just yet but are getting bored with your current workout, consider simply just changing the form you are doing while still staying in the beginner category.
