Military Training

One of the most popular styles of fitness programming is military training. This is also known as "Fitness Bootcamp".

Military training provides the basis for an intense workout that involves a variety of drills and skills. This is a great alternative to conventional exercise and works for someone looking to try something different.

Military training utilizes army-based drills in a setting that will be comfortable for the average exerciser. Sessions range anywhere from 30-90 minutes and can be done one on one or as a group. There is no specific formula for this type of class which can be wonderful for the exerciser as they will get a different workout every time they do the classes. Many times these classes are done in the style of exercise intervals or circuits. These are timed drills of intense exercise followed by a period of light exercise.

It is a great way to challenge the cardiovascular system. Here are a few drills that might be included in this type of class:

  • Obstacle courses
  • Agility exercises
  • Martial arts
  • Sports specific exercises
  • Weight lifting
  • Running
  • Calisthenics (using body weight to perform exercises)

The combination of drills are endless and often the participants will have a say on the types of drills that they would like to try. Consult with your doctor before you begin this type of program. Always remember to have adequate rest between session and stay hydrated through out your workout. Now hit the ground and give me 20!
