Spinning

If you sign up for a spinning class, you won't be running around in circles trying to make yourself dizzy. The only thing that will be spinning is the wheels of the bike that you use for this intense cardio workout.

It is a very fun way to make the more mundane task of indoor bicycling a little more fun, while making sure you get a lot more impact and bang for your workout buck.

A great thing about taking a spinning class (besides the fact that they are widely available at most fitness centers and gyms) is that you don't necessarily have to be at any particular fitness level to succeed with it. During the class, you alternate speeds a lot to vary the workout. One minute, you may be pedaling at a furious pace, while at others you are taking it easier at a more leisurely pace. Moves like standing up and sitting down while pedaling may also be incorporated to help tone buns, hips and thighs. Spinning is a great heart-healthy workout that will help you lose weight and burn fat, no matter if you are pedaling as fast as you can or cooling down towards the end of the workout.

Obviously, there is special equipment involved- the bike itself. If you have an exercise bike already, you can easily do this type of workout at home. But many people find that the group setting with others and the tempo of the music creates an atmosphere more conducive to working out.

The better you feel while working out, the more weight you will lose and the more motivated you will be to continue on with your fitness plan. For this reason alone you may want to consider taking a class rather than doing it at home.
