Pilates Clothing

One factor that is often overlooked by exercise enthusiasts is Pilates clothing.

Since this form of exercise requires that you move in a wide range of motion your Pilates clothing choice is going to be critical when it comes to being comfortable while performing the exercise.

Generally there are two different types of Pilates clothing that you can choose from. You can either wear loose cotton clothes so you do not feel restricted at all or else wear tight clothes that are made out of lycra so they move with your body.

The downside to wearing loose cotton clothing is that it can sometimes get caught underneath your body when you are moving from movement to movement which is obviously not going to be ideal.

Most participants will feel best in form fitting leggings or shorts and a tank top. Choosing a material that breathes well is also something to consider so that you do not become too warm while working out.

Finding a specially designed pair of socks that have an open toe and a non-slip sole is important as you want to be able to grip the floor and the mat while performing your movements.

Some people will also choose to use bare feet so you can experiment with that and see what you like best.

There are also special shoes you can buy as well that have a flexible sole so as to not limit your foot flexibility. If you are serious into this activity and are willing to invest the money you might want to consider these.

So before your next class make sure you take the time to get prepared. You will feel much more comfortable during the session and will reap more benefits from the workout as a result.
