Arguably the most popular gym membership available is the single member one. This means that you and only you are allowed to visit and workout at that particular location.
If you are joining a chain of locations, then you are often allowed to go to any location in the country with your card. Some will allow you to take a guest but generally speaking you can only go solo with this type of gym membership.
A group or family plan allows more than one person to attend. If you are married and/or have kids, this may be a great value because there are often discounts associated with a family plan. Up to four people are usually allowed on a family or group plan with full amenities available to each one.
A corporate plan used to be a rare thing but is becoming more and more popular. This type of plan allows any employee of a company or corporation to either get a free plan or a deeply discounted plan to join as a part of their benefits.
Companies realize that healthy employees are productive ones so this plan is becoming more common.
