Hatha Yoga

A combination of a few different styles, Hatha yoga is a very suitable class for beginners.

This is possibly the most practiced forms of this exercise and it focuses mostly on different positions along with proper breathing techniques to increase your concentration and the awareness of your body parts while still helping to develop your postural muscles.

Hatha yoga is also specifically designed to help prepare your mind for a state of meditation and has special focus on aiding your spiritual path throughout this exercise. The current recommendation for the practice of this style is to perform it twice a day before your meditations sessions.

When first starting out it is best to try and hold each position for about two to three seconds and then rest for an equal amount of time between repetitions. As you progress along with your practice you can start increasing the amount of time you hold for until you get to a full ten counts and also increase the amount of repetitions you perform as well.

A final note should be made that after you have completed a session of practice it is best to avoid really vigorous physical activities such as running or other sports as the body is now in a state of relaxation and the muscles will not be contracting as quickly as they normally would.

Additionally, since your body temperature is slightly increased you will want to be careful about going outside to colder weather (should you live in this type of climate) since there will be a significant temperature change.

This temperature is not ideal considering the whole objective of the exercise is to loosen and relax the muscles and clear your mind.

So if you are new to this type of exercise start with this style. As you move through it you can experiment with other styles as well until you find one that you thoroughly enjoy and gives you the benefits you are wanting.
